I’m back in California.

I was only in Nevada for 11 days. That was enough. Now I’m in South Lake Tahoe, heading southwest.

I haven’t reported on any wildlife sightings in a while, but there have been some in recent weeks. A few snakes:

A small brown snake striped longitudinally, out on a tarmac paved recreational trail

Number One Snake

A larger grey and brown snake, out on a concrete paved recreational trail near a concrete block wall

Number Two Snake

Another snake, with brown spots, on a stone dust recreational trail

Number Three Snake

a frog:

A frog sitting on a stone dust recreational trail. It is green with spots on top, tan with spots on the bottom, and has a dark line just above its mouth, interrupted by its nose.

Stache frog

(who knew frogs got mustaches?) and, from another kingdom entirely, a fungus family portrait:

Several egg-shaped mushrooms, two large and about eight small

A map showing my progress is here, a spreadsheet with progress detail is here, and a Google Earth KMZ file is in this Google Drive folder. Present coordinates: 38.941°N, 119.952°W.
