I hiked something marked “Crest Trail 130” on the map northeast from Mt. Graham to US 70 at Pima, then headed northwest on 70. That took me onto the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation and to Peridot (Tséé Dotłʼizh), my current location.
I’ve been making pretty good distance when you consider weather — rain, snow, wind, cold — has kept me from walking on four days these past two weeks, and as for bike rides, forget it. Syracuse has gotten more snow thus far than in any of the past ten years.
This week I started radiation therapy for prostate cancer. It’s been going fine so far, but side effects aren’t normally expected for the first three weeks or so. And, I understand, they normally wouldn’t have a huge impact on my lifestyle. We’ll see. For now it’s only the weather standing in the way of better distance.
A map showing my progress is here, a spreadsheet with progress detail is here, and a Google Earth KMZ file is in this Google Drive folder. Present coordinates: 33.298°N, 110.457°W.
